HOUSTON—The Texas Department of Assistive and Rehabilitative Services (DARS) will host the first Connecting the Essentials of Life, an event designed to build positive connections between communities and businesses to help people with disabilities. The networking and learning event will be at the Houston Food Bank on Thursday, Oct. 24 from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Brian Greene, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Houston Food Bank, will be the keynote speaker.
DARS administers programs to help ensure that Texas residents with disabilities, and children who have developmental delays, are provided equal opportunity to live independent and productive lives.
A few of the organizations participating in the event include the Greater Houston Business Leadership Network, Houston Area Rehabilitation Association and The Church at Bethel’s Family. DARS Commissioner, Veronda L. Durden, will speak during the event.
