For years, there have been a number of rumors surrounding the marriage of Will and Jada Pinkett Smith. From speculations about their sexual orientations to gossip accusing Jada of stepping out on her high-profile marriage with Latin Grammy-winner, Marc Anthony, tabloids have been divorcing and separating the Smiths for years now.
In the latest issue of Redbook, however, Jada sets the record straight regarding her marriage to Will. In the issue, Jada dishes on the incredible bond that she shares with her family as well as serving as producer on Queen Latifah’s new talk show. Here are the highlights:
On the one thing that her husband could do to make her leave him:
“What is the thing that Will could do to make me not love him? That would make me abandon him? I can’t think of one. I’m sorry. Except if he did something bad to the kids - now we’ve got a problem.”
On the bond that she shares with her family:
“We tend to find magic in the mundane. Picking Willow up from her girlfriend’s house at 9:30PM, and enjoying that ride together, then stopping at 7-Eleven to get some ice cream as a family.”
On her role as producer on The Queen Latifah Show:
“It will be a cross between Oprah and Ellen - not serious but heartfelt... to help execute this idea for such an amazing artist is really pleasing. I’m able to be creative on a whole different level.”
Jada’s issue of Redbook hits the newsstands on June 11.
Side note - Am I the only one that caught Jada talking about picking Willow up from a “girlfriend’s” house late in the evening? It may be completely innocent, as many women call their friends “girlfriend” and Willow is only twelve years old. However, photos circulating of Willow holding hands with another young girl in one too many photos, as well as Jada’s supportive parenting approach (seen by many others as “too lenient”) make me wonder. Hmmm....
