I am glad the Academy got it right as I give a side-eye to the Golden Globes. (No shade to friend-in-my-head Jennifer Lawrence) Lupita was incredibly humble and graceful in receiving her accolade making one of the most moving statements of the night saying. “It doesn’t escape me for one moment that so much joy in my life is thanks to so much pain in someone else’s. And so I want to salute the spirit of Patsey for her guidance. And for Solomon, thank you for telling her story and your own.” Another noteworthy moment was Cate Blanchett’s acceptance speech for Best Actress. She eloquently stated, “As random and as subjective as this award is, it means a great deal in a year of extraordinary, yet again, extraordinary performances by women.” She then proceeded to take a moment to recognize each and every women in her category. In honor of women’s history month I think we all can take notes from these two incredible women. They are examples of always remembering where we came from, and the importance of building one another up. *Cough Cough* LADIES...let’s build each other up. As expected, Ellen did an amazing job as host. Each and every musical performance including the orchestra was on point. John Travolta butchered Idina Menzel’s name, however it was comedy gold and she has now become a household name. So...she won.
