Beyoncé, Blue Ivy, and Miley win big at the 2014 MTV Video Music Awards and more This week in Fashion...

I guess all of the performers at the 2014 MTV Video Music Awards can thank Beyoncé for allowing them to open at her concert. (Yes....MTV still has an awards show even though they don’t play music videos anymore.) Beyoncé basically performed her entire album in 14 minutes prior to receiving the coveted (I’m sure someone covets it...) Video Vanguard Award presented to her by her husband Jay-Z and her adorable baby girl Blue Ivy Carter. Miley Cyrus stole the 2013 VMAs with her infamous performance with Robin Thicke. This year she also had the audience buzzing but for a very different reason. When it was time for her to receive the Video of the Year award for ‘Wrecking Ball’ she guided a young man to the stage while she stood at her seat. The young man’s name was Jesse Helt and he talked about youth homelessness, as a homeless youth himself. Beyoncé and Miley clearly know what stages are for. It’s like while everybody else is playing checkers...they’re playing chess. Yes. All in all Blue Ivy won the Cute Overload award when she was spotted attempting the ‘Flawless’ dance during her Mommy’s performance. Now while I'm as big a Beyoncé fan as the next person it’s no secret some of the lyrics Beyoncé uses in that particular song makes my skin crawl...smh...(It’s especially disturbing since she uses a snippet of a beautiful talk by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie…) As cute as baby Blue was I hope that reminds all of us that kids are smarter than you think...and they’re always watching.
