"Faith in something greater than ourselves enables us to do what we have said we’ll do, to press forward when we are tired or hurt or afraid, to keep going when the challenge seems overwhelming and the course is entirely uncertain"
- Gordon Hinckley
Forward Thinkers, this week as we celebrate Resurrection (Easter) Sunday remember that without faith it is impossible to please God and impossible to advance in the things of God. This week’s "Forward Thinking" article is designed to motivate you to increase your faith and become more Christ like in your walk of faith.
Radical- extreme, big, over the top
Resurrection - to come back from the dead
Faith- the ability to see the world not as it is but as it was when man had dominion, power, and authority
18 The Jews then responded to him, "What sign can you show us to prove your authority to do all this?"19 Jesus answered them, "Destroy this temple, and I will raise it again in three days."20 They replied, "It has taken forty-six years to build this temple, and you are going to raise it in three days?" 21 But the temple he had spoken of was his body. 22 After he was raised from the dead, his disciples recalled what he had said. Then they believed the scripture and the words that Jesus had spoken.
Forward Thinkers the bible says faith comes by hearing the Word of God. A fundamental truth of radical faith is I must focus on the power of prophetic promises over the present problems potential.
Prophetic Promise One
The Temple Will Come Under Attack
Forward Thinkers, Jesus prepares us to beware that we will come under attack as people of faith. One of the most quoted scriptures in the bible is no weapon formed against you shall prosper. Sermons have been preached and songs have been sung declaring no weapon formed against you shall prosper. The reality is as a Christian the enemy will attack us but we must not surrender under the enemy’s attacks but stand in faith believing the attack will not prosper. Forward Thinkers another reality check is the more Christ-like you desire to become the greater the force of attacks launched against you.
Prophetic Promise Two
The Temple Will Come Crumbling Down
Forward Thinkers, Jesus declares there will be times it appears the enemy has won but we must continue to stand with radical resurrection faith. The fact the temple (the body of Christ) will endure some very challenging times should not cause us to retreat but to renew our faith. Forward Thinkers we can stand on the prophetic promises that weeping may endure for a night but joy comes in the morning and Jesus will never leave us or forsake us. We must focus on the promise of overcoming and not on the temporary appearance of defeat. Our faith must be strong enough to declare victory no matter what our current situation looks like.
Prophetic Promise Three
The Temple will come back Together Again
Forward Thinkers, Jesus presents us with great news the temple will be rebuilt. Our faith must be resilient enough to bounce back from a difficult situation. Forward Thinkers the power of radical resurrection faith was on display in New York City after 911 it appeared hopeless but today New York City has been rebuilt better than before. Another example of radical resurrection faith can be found in Boston after the attack at the 2012 Boston Marathon instead of giving up the citizens of Boston became "Boston Strong" and rebuilt the area that was under attack to become stronger than ever before.
Forward Thinkers, because Jesus declares the temple shall be rebuilt we can release radical resurrection faith to overcome any attack formed against us.
Matthew 28:1-6 (NIV)
28 After the Sabbath, at dawn on the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to look at the tomb.2 There was a violent earthquake, for an angel of the Lord came down from heaven and, going to the tomb, rolled back the stone and sat on it. 3 His appearance was like lightning, and his clothes were white as snow. 4 The guards were so afraid of him that they shook and became like dead men.5 the angel said to the women, "Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. 6 He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay.
Forward Thinkers, Mary Magdalena and the other Mary (Mary Mary) displayed radical resurrection faith.
Forward Thinkers, Mary and Mary started walking to the grave in spite of the current situation. There are times in our lives where we must begin to move without knowing what our next step will be. As believers we are required to walk by faith not by sight. Dr. Martin L. King, Jr. often called "faith" a walk down stairs even when he could not see the next step. Like, Dr. King I trust God to keep me as I keep moving because faith without works is dead.
Forward Thinkers, they knew they were not strong enough to roll back the stone (remember at Lazarus grave Jesus told the men to roll back the stone) but their radical resurrection faith believed God would make a way out of no way. Remember the bigger the stone in your way the bigger the faith you will need to release. Forward Thinkers do you have enough faith to go BIGGER?
Forward Thinkers, their faith pleased God and God caused an earthquake to move the stone. This year of my life I’m seeking faith so radical it will cause the earth to shake loose anything in my way and I challenge all Forward Thinkers to adopt this radical mindset.
Forward Thinkers, notice the presence of the guards didn’t intimidate them but encouraged them. If they didn’t believe something radical was going to happen why would they be guarding a dead man’s grave? The presence of your doubters and haters should stimulate your faith because they believe in your potential power enough to show up to get a first hand report of your next radical breakthrough.
In conclusion, Forward Thinkers the definition of a Christian is to be Christ like so let’s conclude by evaluating how Christ like we are. The bible says Christ is no longer in the grave but that He has risen. To be Christ like Forward Thinkers we must rise up above every situation.
