LESSON 2: THE HOLY SPIRIT WORKING SUPERNATURAL MIRACLES IN THE TIMES OF THE EARLY CHURCH: Salvation In Jesus Christ
Bible Fact: The Bible is the infallible word of God and the primary authorized written source that gives Divine instructions to all true Christians.
Bible Text: John 16:7,13; Acts 1:8
Aim: To lead students to accept the Holy Ghost as the promise of Jesus Christ to them personally and to encourage them to be guided by His will for their decisions and daily living.
Susan Boyle boldly and confidently took the stage with an auditorium completely filled with negative critics that were all against her. “Britain’s Got Talent” was auditioning to discover new singing talents. The majority of the time those selected to audition was young adults. Susan was 47 at the time and very well unemployed. She believed that she had talent. As she took the stage it was very clear that she was not the world most glamorous beauty queen and not the best dressed fashion model. The three judges and the entire audience looked at her with deep skepticism and their unbelief showed glaringly upon their faces. When asked by Simon Cowell what is it that she wanted to be and what she would sing with hesitation and with strong confidence she said a professional singer and she named the song – “I Dreamed A Dream”. When she stated that she wanted to be like Elaine Paige the audience sniggled and many put their hands over their mouths to show their extreme shock and surprise at her selections. She look over at the technician and with the nod of her head and the sound of music notes, tones, pitch and melodies smoothly flowed from her mouth like the symphonic sounds that matched and blended to the sweet orchestra playing in the background…The very first words out of Susan’s mouth instantly silenced her critical audience bringing the judges and most of the audience to tears…12,457,131 hits later today and continuing on Youtube.com Susan is a super star of fame and fortune! The night of her biggest opportunity let the world know that her biggest talent of belief was hidden on the inside of her heart not in what she looked like.
God looks at what we’re all about; by what’s on the inside. God doesn’t care if we have lustrous hair that shines or dingy grey, or no hair at all. God loves us just the way we are. God doesn’t care if our eye lashes are long and full of volume. God loves us just the way we are. God doesn’t care if we own a limousine and driver to go with it or if we walk to church or take the bus. God loves us just the way we are with the resources we have on the inside. And our biggest resource is our heart. It’s a heart that has a right relationship with God. It’s a heart that desires to live by God’s standards, not human beings. That is where true happiness is found. It’s no secret formula that comes in a bottle or that you have to purchase in an exclusive limited time TV offer. No! The price has already been paid for you to be in a right relationship with God. Jesus Christ paid the price...with His life...for you! Amen!--- Marianne Unger. The greatest supernatural miracle is still salvation in Jesus Christ.
- I note in vv. 1-3 how the Holy Spirit matched up two Christians and the cripple man at Church time.
- I note in vv.5-8 the willingness of the witnesses and the wounded to comply to get the job done.
- I note in vv.9-11 the praise response of the man to the supernatural encounter of Jesus Christ to heal him.
- I note in vv.12-16 the timely witness of Peter to tell others that this healing happen by the rejected Jesus Christ that was crucified.
