President Barack Obama was in Texas this week and Houstonians were excited to be in the midst of the President of the United States not in Houston but in Austin, Texas earlier this week. Houstonians were loud and proud when the President of the United States appeared on stage at the Paramount Theater in Austin, Texas. Some witnessed President Barack Obama on television and some were there in person either way people were excited to see President Barack Obama in the Lone Star State.

President Barack Obama was in Texas to discuss the economy and to attend a couple of fundraisers in Austin and Dallas, Texas. President Barack Obama was criticized from Texas lawmakers & others for not making a visit to the US/Mexican border but, did meet with Governor Rick Perry to discuss possible solutions to the crisis that exist at the US/Mexican border... President Barack Obama thanked Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee for being there with him... Also in attendance for this historic event included Tyrone Willis & other proud Houston Texans.

The White House states that President Barack Obama knows the condition that exists at the Texas-Mexican border and is pushing for immigration reform/ President Obama is trying to resolve the issue as quickly as possible the White House says. More of President Barack Obama’s remarks in Austin, Texas can be found by visiting the White House website at www.whitehouse.gov/the-press-office/2014/07/10/remarks-president-economy-austin-tx. Come to Houston next time Mr. President when you come to Texas. I’m always excited to see President Barack Obama! Thanks again for coming to Texas Mr. President Barack Obama!

By supporting the Chester Pitts Charitable Foundation you are giving children the opportunity to be exposed to arts. Arts are important Pitts says and believes that the people who were in attendance feels the same way. Pitts was joined with his lovely wife LaToya Pitts and Chester Pitts III who is eight years old and one of three children of Pitts. Former and current team members of the Houston Texans and the Houston Dynamo were in attendance to support Chester Pitts and his charitable foundation. Bowling for a cause included  Brian Ching, Cody White, David Anderson, Devin Pitts, Duane Brown, Nakia Cooper, & KPRC’s Local 2 Rachel McNeill who served as programs emcee. Former Houston Texan and KPRC Local 2 sportscaster Chester Pitts raised $40,000 for his charitable foundation. I think it’s pretty safe to say that “Strike Out for the Arts” bowling event at Bowlmor was a huge success.

Lionel Richie Summer Concert

Lionel Richie Performs Live in a Sizzling Summer Concert in the Woodlands – Forward Times was there with screaming fans and all to witness the spectacular performance by Cee-Lo Green and Lionel Richie. In addition to the incredible concert there was another party, a party with a purpose given by the Pavilion Partners at the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion. The “All Night Long” Party was given in the Pavilion’s House of Blues Hospitality Tent prior to the Lionel Richie featuring Cee-Lo Green concert at the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion. The “All Night Long” Party was equally fun as the concert and there were a couple who bid in a live auction at $9,000.00 EACH to meet and greet Lionel Richie  and these funds were raised to fund performing arts and education outreach programs, as well as awarding fine arts scholarships each spring. The live auction also included a Houston Texans Sports package, an autographed copy of Jimmy Buffett’s guitar, vacation packages and more. Spotted in the crowd included David & Joy Simpson, George & Dianne Lindahl, Ted & Janice Washington, Chad & Jessica Hudson, Stephen Pate, & D’Artagnan Bebel. The concert was awesome and thanks so much for the hospitality at the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion. For more information and how you can support the Pavilion Partners visit there website at www.woodlandscenter.org or call Courtney Galle 281-364-3010.
