Reagan Falls Just Short to Pearland Dawson

It was a tough defensive battle for Reagan but Pearland prevailed to win 21-7 in the District 4A matchup.

Dawson took a 6-0 lead in the first quarter on Ross Wicklund’s 3-yard touchdown pass to Tony Upchurch at the 6:53 mark, but the PAT kick failed.

In the second period, Brett Winnegan scored on a 12-yard run just 8:06 before halftime, and Wicklund then completed a two-point conversion pass to Trey Miller for a 14-0 lead.

The Eagles boosted the lead to 21-0 on Miller’s 2-yard run with 5:29 left in the third period. Dawson had 281 total yards, highlighted by Winnegan’s 158 yards rushing on 29 carries. Wicklund completed 6 of 16 passes for 37 yards while Upchurch had three catches.

Reagan’s lone score came on a 10-yard run by Trevor O’Reilly at 2:16 in the third quarter. Tavon Dodd had a decent rushing night carrying the ball 15 times for 105-yards.

The Pearland Dawson Eagles (10-2) will next meet Magnolia West. Reagan finishes the season with a record of (10-2).
