Thirty-one of the top Greater Houston area high school football players were honored by the Touchdown Club of Houston at their annual High School Pre-season Football Awards dinner, held at the JW Marriott Hotel in the Galleria.
Twenty-two of these young men have verbally committed to major universities across the country, and the Texas A&M Aggies, who will play their first season in the Southeastern Conference this year, have seven verbal commitments from that list. The list includes: Dawson running back James White, Westfield Defensive tackle Hardreck Walker, Sharpstown linebacker Reggie Chevis, Alief Taylor safety Jonathan Wiggins, Manvel cornerback Tavares Garner, and Terry receiver Derrick Griffin and safety Victory Davis.
Offensive Honorees are: Connor Feist-Langham Creek; Travis Hanes-Stratford; D’Juan Hines- Dekaney; Shane McCarley-Manvel; Keith Ford-Cy Ranch, Jamel James-Cinco Ranch; Adam Taylor-Katy; James White-Dawson; Keith Whitely-LaPorte, Caleb Benenoch-Seven Lakes; Maurice Porter-Marshall; Tyler Tezeno-Klein Collins; Kenneth Thompson-Langham Creek; Derrick Griffin-Terry; Devin Lauderdale-Bellaire; and Jacorey Warrick-Cy Falls.
Defensive Honorees are: Deon Hollins-Fort Bend Marshall; Matt Dimon-Katy; Jacobi Hunter-Cy Falls; Torrodney Prevot-Alief Taylor; Hardreck Walker-Westfield; Reggie Chevis- Sharpstown; Deoudrei Davis-Cy Woods; John Gibberman-Pearland; Joshua Price-Hightower; Jonathan Wiggins-Alief Taylor; Hipolito Corporan-Westside; Victor Davis-Terry; Tevares Garner-Manvel; LaTravien Gee-Jersey Village; Maurice Smith-Dulles.
The Touchdown Club of Houston will honor the top Private High School and Public High School top offensive and defensive players of the year for the Greater Houston Area, as well as Top High School Coach of the Year at two separate awards dinners in December.
