PICNIC TIME

There was plenty of good eating, drinking and laughing recently, as the Afro American Police Officer’s Association (AAPOL), held their annual picnic. This event gives officers a chance to fellowship with others, see what they look like outside of the uniforms, let their spouses, children, parents and friends mingle with each other, as well as dance, show off their prized toys (motorcycles) and joke and laugh.  My good friend Gary Hicks, Sr., was nice enough to invite me to this event as well as share his magnificent pictures with me.  A good time was had by all, despite the soaring temperatures.  Spotted were Tracy Richardson, President, Gary Hicks, Sr., Vice President, Tangela Nichols, Treasurer, Rhonda Williams, Board Member, Police Chief Charles McClelland, Executive Asst. Chief Michael Dirden, Lt. Mattie Provost, Hubert Watson served as the jammin DJ for the day.

A WEDDING TO REMEMBER

Terrence Pace, longtime president of Pace Entertainment Group and Radhiya Wiley, owner of Math Tutors in Houston were married recently. The 323 people who attended the wedding were given a great Jazz ensemble by local Saxaphonist Kyle Turner as the bride approached the altar, where popular Pastor Charles Perry of The Word of Restoration Christian Fellowship Church waited to join the two in matrimony. The newly adjoined couple were read the history of jumping the broom, before turning and continuing the tradition of African American culture. The huge reception hall at the Ava Center was adorned with thousands of flowers and drapes as the attendees were entertained by the Tom Burton Band and an elaborate meal that the couple paid $200 per plate. Talk about bougee!  Attending the wedding were many who’s who in Houston private B list.

 WHISPERS IN THE WIND -

(A Little Dirt For The Day)

Don’t say you heard it from me, but Houston, don’t we have enough parties, galas, events and gossip to go around? Surely one society person could cover it all!  So, with that question, here is mine, can’t we all just get along?   No need to player hate when you see me, not speak, run in front of my photographer, blocking his view, roll your eyes at me when I look your way. Come on, there’s enough to go around for everybody.  Don’t be so mad all the time, smile, chill and get a drink or something!  Smooches..............

Peacefully Yours,

Hazel
