Fabulous Around Houston - Randle Family Reunion Trail Ride

Every once in a while, I put on my tennis shoes and bug repellent to venture out and see what you people are really up to. Saturday was no exception as I traveled to Booth,TX, for you bougie folk, that’s right behind Sugarland’s Greatwood subdivision. Talk about the country! Dern nere got shot at after turning onto some private property area in search of the picnic grounds where the Randle Family, the fourteen offsprings of Rev. Robert and Clara Randle, were holding their 2011 Family Reunion A Good Harvest from Good Seeds.”

The fourteen children represented were George Randle, Albert Randle, Raymond Randle, Edmond Randle, Leon Randle, Robbie Randle Jenkins, Gladys Randle Shanks, Melvin Randle, Thelma Randle Davis, Weston Randle, Henry Randle, Ruth Randle Dancer, Thomas Randle and Octavia Randle Hodge. Mr. Edmond “Sarge” Randle traveled the furthest, from Seattle, Washington, bringing not one, but both of his families with him; first and second wives, along with first and second sets of kids. Adding another meaning to We Are Family!

More than 400 were in attendance for the Family Reunion. On Sunday, they packed the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, to give Thanks and Praise. Rev. Gerald Shanks, preached the 11:00 a.m. Reunion Service, and Rev. Ivory Hodge, preached the 3:00 p.m. Homecoming Service. Both Pastors are part of the Randle Clan.

A very special thanks goes out to one of the Houston Forward Times’ biggest supporters, Mr. Wesley Shanks, for letting us be apart of his family’s special event. I think just about every adult out there has a subscription to the paper, what love!

Whispers in the Wind (A Little Dirt for the Day!)

Well, it’s that time again. Early voting is in effect as we speak. Now don’t shoot the messenger, but the street committee is abuzz about a certain city councilmember candidate that has a history of changing things, sort of speak. Got rid of his member, if you know what I mean. The concern is - can this candidate make decisions and stick to them; or will he, I mean she, change her mind about city issues, too?! And a special shout out to my group of male fans over at the IT, that meet, greet, eat and read/critique my page every week, much love fellas, get your subscriptions today!

Peace Be Still,

Hazel
