121111_Erica Lee Files for Harris County Board of Education Position 6, Precinct 1Lee is Committed to Bringing Quality Education for All Children to Precinct 1

On Tuesday, December 6, 2011, Erica Shelwyn Lee, filed to be the Democratic Nominee for Precinct 1 for the Harris County Board of Education. She brings with her teaching, policy and budget finance experience as well as a passion to bring quality education to all of our children.

“I am seeking a position on the Board because I have witnessed firsthand how much our children achieve when given a quality education,” said Lee after filing.

Erica’s decision to run for office is partly inspired by her family. Her father, Dr. Elwyn C. Lee is a lifelong educator who has mentored thousands of students at the University of Houston; and, her mother, Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee, is a champion for children’s rights.

Erica officially launched her campaign on November 12, 2011 and continues to hold events around Precinct 1 to listen to the voices in the community. “When I think of serving as a Trustee, I also remember that there are young girls and boys entering schools, who are filled with hopes and dreams, seeking opportunity. Yet for many, their dreams will not be realized. Quality education should not be a dream. It must be an expected outcome for all of OUR CHILDREN,” says Lee.
