IT’S A FABULOUS GIRL!
Houston’s own, Third Ward Girl, Beyoncé and husband, Jay-Z recently released the first photos of their 4-week-old bundle of joy, Blue Ivy Carter. What a doll baby she is, looking just like her momma. I am so glad they didn’t take the traditional celeb route and pawn their daughter’s photos to the highest bidders. That comes from good home training to include morals and values!
When I lived across the street from Beyoncé, on Parkwood, she was just a little sandy-haired 2 yr. old herself -- my how time goes by. Beyoncé and Jay-Z, we are so proud of you, congrats!!!
RIP
Speaking of Houston’s own, Greg “Cadillac” Anderson, former U of H basketball player and famed former NBA player laid his oldest son, Gregory W. Anderson, Jr. to rest this past weekend. The younger Anderson, employed by the United States Navy as a Petty Officer 3rd Class, assigned to the USS Nimitz as an aircraft ordinanceman, was killed by a stray bullet in Seattle, Washington a week prior. My sincere condolences and continued prayer go out to Cadillac Anderson and the entire Anderson family.
And while the Anderson funeral was in progress, on the other side of town, family and friends were also bidding farewell to one of the key people that had a hand in making this Society gal the person she is today. Yes, my step-father, the father I grew up in the house with, John E. Shephard, was laid to rest. John, a retiree from Anheuser Busch, after 36 years of service, was also a veteran, as he served in the United States Marines for 6 years, after changing the spelling of his last name at 16 and convincing the marines he was 18 and enlisted. John, you will be missed.

LET THE GAMES BEGIN
Georgia Provost, our own Director of Community Services, recently hosted her Annual Bid Whist, Spades and Dominoes Classic at her Provost Studios. There was great Creole food and drinks for all. And the overall winner for the night, Georgia’s Homemade Sweet Peach Tea! Yummy…
WHISPERS IN THE WIND – (A little DIRT FOR THE WEEK)
The street committee, as my dear friend, the late Judy Tillman-Hickman would call them, are tongue wagging about you know who; letting his twitter feeds get his money put on hold.
Some are saying it was only a matter of time that the arrogance would get the best of him.
I ain’t one to gossip, so you didn’t hear this from me, but maybe he should wear that Ascot a little higher, around that BIG mouth! I’m just saying. Everybody knows you can’t say that, cuz the downlow people have big, high dollar positions too! OUCH!! Ok, gotta bounce.
