“DEVELOPING MY RELATIONSHIPS”

Bible Fact: God’s word teaches believers the positive value of how to humanly relate to themselves in a spiritually appropriate manner.

Bible Text: Luke 10:27b

Aim: To lead students to improve their individual spiritual relationship with themselves by knowing God’s will for their life.

The renowned artist Paul Gustave Dore (1821-1883) lost his passport while traveling in Europe. When he came to a border crossing, he explained his predicament to one of the guards. Giving his name to the official, Dore hoped he would be recognized and allowed to pass. The guard, however, said that many people attempted to cross the border by claiming to be persons they were not. Dore insisted that he was the man he claimed to be. “All right,” said the official, “we’ll give you a test, and if you pass it we’ll allow you to go through.” Handing him a pencil and a sheet of paper, he told the artist to sketch several peasants standing nearby. Dore did it so quickly and skillfully that the guard was convinced he was indeed who he claimed to be. His work confirmed his word! - Our Daily Bread, January 6, 1993.

If I had to show my works as proof of Christian identity everyday to get through the day, how would I prove that I indeed have the new person of Christ living within me? How can I convince people that I am the real deal?

  1. From the scriptures below I can make a list of things that I must do to grow my “new man” identity within my personal character. Read Psalm 1:2; 119:11, 130; 34:1; Proverbs 3:5,6;
  2. Timothy 2:15
  3. I understand my environment has much to do with developing me to love me as Christ is remaking me into His spiritually designed vessel. I will research the scripture to locate those that can help me with this process. I recognize and I can list Christ’s help to me from the following scriptures. Psalm 1:1; Romans 12:1-3;
  4. I have read II Corinthians 8:5 I am able to identify the one thing that I must also do to help my transformation process to keep momentum.
  5. How will I learn what to do as I am being made into a new vessel for Christ’s use and identity? Read the following and make your list. Acts 1:8; Matthew 23:12; James 4:10; 1Peter 5:6
