What a tremendous show of support last Friday night, as limos lined up in front of the George R. Brown Convention Center and people poured into the building, up the escalator, and through the red and gold velvet curtains to witness The 2012 Inaugural Visionary Pastor’s Awards.
Congregants from the various churchs donned beautiful clothing and spirits as they filled the seats of the auditorium, mingling with one another and chatting about.
It seems as if each pastor’s church members sectioned themselves off in cheering sections, all in good faith, of course.
What a wonderful, decent occasion to celebrate men from humble beginnings that have flourished into great visionaries. Some of their accolades included community development, food pantries to feed the community, viable schools to educate our youth, homeless assistance that includes meals, warm blankets, shelter, GED programs, clothing, and back into the community living skills, to name a few.
And talk about the gowns!! Judge Clarease Yates donned a beautiful Couture gun metal silver gown that featured jewels around the waist-line and on the bodice with a long flowing gathered train. Karen Carter Richards, also in Couture, was clad in a show-stopping black A-lined gown that featured a completely jeweled bodice, front and back, with encrusted Swarovski crystals, emerald green rhinestones and jewels. A soft, black wrap complimented the full-train gown. Also stunning in evening wear were Jocelyn Allen,Cadillac; Chelsea Blanco, Grace Boateng, Nykayla Richards, and Creshelle Smith, to mention a few.
And let’s not forget about the men, yes the men were stunning as well. V. Michael McKay, Cary Yates, Jeffrey Boney, Mel Gage, Jesse Frazier, Brian Courtney Wilson, Ray Barker, Jr., Riyad Abu-Taha, Craig Joseph, Congressman Al Green, Khambrell Marshall, J. Thomas Smith, Sylvester Turner, to name a few, and all the Pastors looked fabulous!
