Texans_CampThe Houston Texans have just finished up with the Team’s weekend minicamp and head coach Gary Kubiak is impressed with his draft picks. As a native of South Carolina I was very excited to see the Texans use their first 2 draft picks on players from the state of South Carolina. DeAndre Hopkins from Clemson, and D.J. Swearinger from the University of South Carolina.

SHoustonFor the second year in a row, the Sam Houston State Bearkats and North Dakota State will meet in the NCAA Division I Football Championship Game in Frisco, Texas on Saturday, January 5th at noon at FC Dallas Stadium in Frisco, Texas.

Lamar’s Nolen wins Coach of the Year Award

NolenThe Lamar Redskins head football coach Tom Nolen became the 25th annual recipient of the Touchdown Club of Houston John Kelley Coach of the Year Award at the 33rd Annual High School Awards Dinner held at the J.W. Marriott Hotel near the Galleria.

Nolen, a longtime head coach who picked up his 250th career win this year in his team’s regular-season finale, was selected from a field that combined for 117 victories to 17 losses.

Lamar, HISD blows past North Shore in Regional Final

LamarIt took more than a decade for another HISD school to represent the Greater Houston area in the regional finals. And the last time a Houston ISD football team won a Class 5A regional final they had a legendary quarterback and a high-octane offense to pave the way.

The opponent was the same, and so was the coach, but the players were different, but that didn’t matter as the Lamar Redskins ended an 11-year drought by defeating the North Shore Mustangs 28-7 in front of a sold out crowd at Pasadena Veterans Memorial Stadium.
