Tim_DobbinsThe Houston Texans secured their second consecutive playoff berth with a 24-10 victory over the Tennessee Titans at L.P. Logan Field in Nashville, Tennessee. With the win, Houston now moved to 11-1 on the season, setting a record for most wins in franchise history.

CooperThe Attucks Apaches led by point guard Kaylon Paley and forward Juwan Brown scored 15 and 20 points each to help their team capture the 30th Annual Ralph Cooper “Stars of the Future” Middle School Basketball Tournament Championship with a 47-33 victory over the Ryan Cubs at Chavez High School.

Attucks defeated HCYA, Westbury Christian, and Missouri City to get to the championship game. Ryan, who was led by Yeskin Williams, defeated The Imani School, Cullen and Dowling to reach the championship.

Ralph Cooper, the Sports Director at KCOH Radio Station, continues to touch young people’s lives by   putting on this middle school tournament for the past thirty years. There has never been an entry fee charged and various sports celebrities and local area businessmen have donated money to go towards awards, banners and trophies.

JJ-WattPRO BOWL VOTING

With three weeks of fan voting for the Pro Bowl remaining, Texans running back Arian Foster and defensive end J.J. Watt continue to rake in the votes.

Foster leads all running backs and ranks third among all NFL players with 519,261 votes. Only Peyton Manning (586,523) and Tom Brady (534,020) have more. Watt leads all NFL defensive players with 320,236 votes, almost 100,000 more than the next-closest defensive player, Clay Matthews (228,494)

McHaleHouston Rockets head basketball coach Kevin McHale has lost his youngest daughter, Alexandra “Sasha” McHale at the young age of 23.

Sasha McHale, who was known as a “daddy’s girl”, according to Rockets assistant coach Kelvin Sampson, died Saturday morning in Minneapolis, after a long battle with lupus. She had been hospitalized with a condition related to the autoimmune disease.
